BCIG releases figures for 2023-2024
The eagerly awaited data regarding the number of cochlear implants that have been taking place in UK centres in the Year Ending 31st March, 2024 has now been analysed. Many thanks for Professor Helen Cullington for her work on this.

The headlines:
- Adult referrals continue to increase, with a 40% increase in the past 2 years.
- This has been a bumper year for new adults receiving CI – with the largest number ever to be implanted in the UK: 1085!
- Total number of new people in the UK to receive CI is still not up to pre Covid levels, but does still continue to increase each year since Covid
